This was a project for a class. The assignment was to create a piece that demonstrated the following Photoshop tools: complex selections, compositing, and retouching. I chose to create a movie poster for a hypothetical Harry Styles concert film.
My goal was to convey Harry Styles's vibe within this poster, so that a fan can look at this and understand the various components. The house is a reference to his third studio album, Harry's House. The feather boa is an iconic outfit choice and common at his concerts. His outfit is one that represents his fashion style well.
Before making color adjustments and such, I wanted to have all the images masked and in their approximate whereabouts. This draft has a couple feather boas and a pink hat on the stage, but after some consideration, I decided it would be best to remove these from the poster. These items are so popular at Harry Styles's concerts, so my vision was to create a stage that conveyed this. However, after receiving feedback from several people, the consensus was that these three objects were kinda distracting and just weren't serving the purpose I was envisioning.
These are all of the images that were composited into this poster. I could not find an image of a stage from the correct angle, so I decided to create my own. I took a general image of a stage and then masked out the area for the audience on the sides of the runway. Because feather boas have become iconic for Harry Styles, I felt it fitting that he be wearing a feather boa in the image.
Also, this outfit is a bright pink, yet the image makes the outfit appear red/dark pink. So I added an adjustment layer to make the outfit color more accurate.
